STYLE GURU STYLE: Bold is Better

School is in session, but that doesn’t mean the summer is over! There’s still more sunshine, fellow Fashionistas, and we should all be taking advantage of our favorite summer essentials we have yet to showcase. Especially in Ithaca, New York, where winter lasts for about 80 percent of the school year, there is only so much time we get to rock our favorite summer fashion. I’m trying this new thing where I wear a sundress almost everyday, thinking that maybe it’ll make summer last just a bit longer. I am clearly a very rational person. Right?

This dress screams summer. Most people ,who know me, know that I wear mostly black. It’s easy to wear and it goes with everything. But by the time summer rolls around, I make a conscious effort to integrate more color in my wardrobe. I am so happy this dress is a result of that. Additionally, I have been so inspired by the recent spring 2016 ready-to-wear lines that feature dazzling colors. Gucci’s show, for example, flaunts surprising colors and prints. It should remind us to break out of our all black looks more often.

This golden yellow color was a huge hit this summer. I saw it everywhere. It is bold and speaks for itself. Of course, it’s always fun to accessorize, but this dress doesn’t need a lot of it. So many Fashionistas have already said it, and I’ll repeat it again: less is more! Don’t over-do your outfit, it’ll take away from a unique piece you’re wearing. Although this dress is a bold color, it’s a simple silhouette. Some gold necklaces will bring attention to it without taking away from it.

Especially during the school year, I don’t have much time to decide what to wear. Dresses like these are a lifesaver. I can throw it on and be out of my apartment in minutes. It’s the perfect dress for a girl on the go.

Get My Look: 1. A Mexican style dress in a bold color. This will give your look that wow-factor that every look in the Gucci line had. 2. Gold chunky chains from any vintage store or boutique. Look around at antique stores in your neighborhood as well. You never know what gems you’ll find. 3. Booties that will give this whole look an edge.
