It happened in LA. I was strolling down Rodeo Drive for the first time just a few weeks ago when I spotted the most unique leather biker jacket. The words “Loving you” were stitched across the back in white with a lone crimson heart gracefully dotting the “I”. It looked like art.
When I thought about inspiration for this month’s post, I was thinking specifically of this jacket and the geniuses behind it. The brand alice + olivia never fails to stun, but their fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection is one for the books. With an underlying ode to the ’70s, the collection remains playful while still maintaining that edginess that is so on-trend and unique to the brand. As a result, we see all different sorts of patterns and silhouettes with an edgy red, black and white color scheme.
Something seen frequently across the collection is the incorporation of bows on dress collars and around the necks of blouses. This red blouse perfectly fits the aesthetic of this collection, in color and in style. Because many of the looks used red merely as an accent color against black, I chose to keep the rest of my pieces true to the collection.
To give my look that edgy alice + olivia flair, I tucked the front of my blouse into a pair of black distressed ankle jeans. A d’Orsay pointed pump adds a bit of height while keeping the look elegant. And lastly, I topped my look off with a hip, black Saffiano leather backpack, complete with fur charm.
