It’s hard to believe that spring weather is here. Not only is the weather warmer, but the flowers are blooming, birds are chirping and the sun is out! To spruce up my spring wardrobe I decided to find some inspiration by looking online and flipping through some of my favorite magazines. I stumbled across Madewell’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, which was designed by their creative creative director Joyce Lee. Lee stated that she was going for a very low key ’70s vibe with this year’s collection. The bohemian trend is very popular on the runway right now; the BCBGMAXAZRIA fall 2016 collection is a great example. Since BCBGMAXAZRIA is a bit too expensive for a college student a great alternative is Madewell, which provides quality clothing without breaking the bank.
Their 2016 spring collection is all-American in that it features the colors red, white and blue coupled with stripes and plaid—the classic American patterns. One of my favorite looks features a simple white linen shirt and shorts with a denim jacket, which is something so easy to recreate. It is a laid back look, yet has effortless and feminine touches.
Inspired by this all-American, bohemian look I chose to go for a really simple outfit that is perfect for a day outing at a farmers market or just hanging out with friends. I wore a simple white A-line dress, with a blue denim jacket, which is a great base to create any look. To achieve the bohemian feel I did so with my accessories! I paired the outfit with some dainty gold earrings, some funky pins and a patterned silk scarf. I tied the scarf around my purse for some added color, but it would also be great to tie around the neck. Since my outfit was fairly simple I choose a different hairstyle than I usually wear. To achieve this chic look I created four different braids and crossed them over each other making sure to pin each braid well.
This outfit has become one of my go-to looks for spring, because it is so easy to put together if you’re in a pinch. I may have even worn it twice in one week!
