STYLE GURU STYLE: Boho Babe

My dearest Fashionistas/os, I have a serious confession to make. I secretly wish I were born in the 1970s. Don’t get me wrong, being a ‘90s child is totally rad, but everything about the easygoing fashions and lifestyle of the ‘70s is appealing. The jumpsuits, bold prints, wide-legged pants and earthy colors make me long for a time machine to transport me back to the decade of peace, love and good vibes. Luckily, Stacey Bendet probably had the same mindset when she designed the alice + olivia resort 2016 collection. As soon as I came across this dreamy line of clothes, I knew it was love at first sight.

From a cozy oversized poncho and endless wide pants to a killer fringe skirt and fun prints, this collection speaks to the bohemian goddess in all of us. And if you don’t think you have a bohemian side, Stacey Bendet’s designs will make you want one. Whereas some designers stick to a muted, earthy color palette when channeling a boho vibe, I admire that Bendet wasn’t afraid to go for bold colors like seafoam green and light blue.

While trying to soak up my last few days of summer, I looked to this collection for a little fashion inspiration. One specific look—a deep blue tunic with stunning embroidery—caught my attention and reminded me of denim shift dress I scored at Zara’s summer sale last month in New York. The detailing on the neckline is impeccable and adds a unique flair to a basic denim shift dress. I paired it with light brown sandals and my trusty fringe purse for an added boho edge. After swiping on some red-orange lipstick, I felt like I walked right off the set of That ‘70s Show. Step aside, Donna…there’s a new boho babe in town.

Get My Look: 1. A denim shift dress. 2. Versatile brown sandals. 3. A fringe purse.
