STYLE GURU STYLE: Bohemian Elements

After the holidays, people often have visions of summer in their head. For me, I imagine myself prancing in the hot sun in sunscreen and summer dresses. Unfortunately, for most of the country, we still have to get through the cold weather. If only we were thermostats that could crank up our body heat and wear whatever we want in the winter. But since that invention hasn’t arrived yet, us Fashionistas have to be creative how we stay warm while being fashionable.

That’s where over the knee boots come in. They have been a trend for a while, but now over the knee boots have a purpose. These boots cover most of your leg, making for extra insulation. It’s almost like a coat for your legs. What’s great about these type of boots is that you can wear them on those transitional weather days where it’s smack dab in the middle of being warm and cold.

Besides being warm enough for the winter, these boots are surprisingly slimming, especially if you find ones that snug your legs perfectly and don’t slouch. If you want to wear a skirt or dress and keep your legs warm, over the knee boots should be your number one choice.

For me, I love over the knee boots because I can style them in many ways where other shoes are limited. The summer dresses you fantasize of wearing in the winter can be easily paired with these boots, like I did here. My bohemian dress (a summer staple for me) is just the right length with my boots to show a little skin. I chose to wear blue statement earrings with the dress and boot combo. A long coat would go great with this outfit to keep you extra toasty. In the winter, I especially like to mix bohemian elements into my style for an unexpected look.
