STYLE GURU STYLE: Bohemian Beach

Chiffon fabrics, bohemian patterns and multiple variations of shorts are some of the items you will find in my closet during the summer. One of the reasons why I love summer is because of the endless amount of styles, prints and fabrics to choose from and because there are so many fun pieces I can mix and match together to create different outfits. For example, denim shorts can be worn with nearly anything from a simple T-shirt to a colorful lace-trimmed top. With all the different possible combinations I can make when it comes to creating outfits this season, my only limit now would just be my imagination and creativity as I think of new ways to express myself through fashion.

Inspired by Nanette Lepore’s pre-fall 2015 runway collection, I have put together an outfit with a navy blue crop top paired with high-waisted shorts and a light bohemian printed kimono to create a look that overall resembles the same bohemian vibe and blue hues seen in her designs. To complete the look, I added on some of my favorite accessories such as my beaded bracelet, gold necklace and finally my favorite pair of gladiator sandals.

Since the weather here in the Pacific Northwest is also getting undeniably hot and dry, the idea of layering on clothes is slowly becoming unheard of. However, sometimes you might feel like your outfit needs an extra layer to add more dimension to your look. When it’s too hot out for denim jackets or cardigans, kimonos are a great piece to add on to your outfit because of the lightweight chiffon fabric. The world of fashion today has definitely found a way to take inspiration from this traditional Japanese garment and turn it into a popular summer piece that can be really appreciated this season because of how light, flowy and comfortable it is, and not to mention, it’s just the right amount of layering you need on a hot day.

Get My Look: 1. Any cropped cami. 2. A printed kimono. 3. High-waisted denim shorts.
