STYLE GURU STYLE: Black With A Twist

What better way to keep warm throughout the chilly winter than a nice pair of jeans and an oversized sweater? Staying bundled up and stylish can be a hard thing to do, but anything is possible if you find the right answer.

Recently, Virginia has experienced very low temperatures, but, with the help of the pre-fall 2016 collection of Diesel Black Gold, I have adjusted to the cold without having to look like a bundled up marshmallow. I have always been into Diesel’s runway shows because of the “jeans and leather” look, but they always find a way to make the looks seem less simplistic. For the pre-fall 2016 runway, Andreas Melbostad wanted to “give his clothes a splash of razzel-dazzle,” and he definitely did that when he “threaded materials like Lurex, jacquard and metallic leather through the collection.” Throughout his collection, we can see the big sweaters and glittery turtlenecks make a frequent appearance and, personally, I could not be any happier.

For my inspired outfit, I chose to go with an oversized black sweater, ripped jeans, Aqua jewelry and Steve Madden heeled booties! The black booties and oversized sweater looked as if they could have been pieces straight from the collection, but I added some aqua-colored jewelry to give the black some “razzel-dazzle.”

This outfit is the perfect way to stay warm with a big sweater; yet, it still shows some skin with the off-the-shoulder look and a nice pair of ripped jeans. This look can go from day to night by simply adding a black leather jacket. Keep it dressy with the aqua statement pieces, which give a twist to this mostly black ensemble!
