STYLE GURU STYLE: Black, White And Red All Over

I am always looking for ways to incorporate looks I see on runways into my own wardrobe. When I saw the looks in the Cut25 by Yigal Azrouë spring 2015 ready-to-wear show, I instantly fell in love. There were so many fun colors and flirty skirts. One outfit from the show I was most drawn to included a simple black skirt, white shirt and red leather jacket. I knew I would be experimenting with these colors and similar items to create my own runway-inspired version.

Instead of copying the outfit exactly, I gathered different items in the same color scheme for myself and couldn’t be more thrilled with the result. I absolutely love my black and white color-blocked skirt. The longer length makes it appropriate for any occasion. It’s the kind of skirt I just want to twirl around in because it is so bouncy. On top, I wore a simple, black short sleeve shirt with gems around the neck. The black tied in perfectly with the skirt, almost as if they were one piece. Instead of throwing a red jacket or sweater over my shirt, I decided to go with red tights. Pairing skirts with tights is one of my favorite trends right now. Tights also make the outfit more appropriate for winter. I live in Wisconsin, so exposed legs can be problematic. If it was really cold out, a sweater or jacket would still look fabulous over the outfit. All in all, I stuck to a black, white and red ensemble that I could wear to class or any other occasion this season.

The outfit I was inspired by was very minimalist and didn’t have too many accessories. I didn’t want to go overboard but I’m definitely a jewelry girl. Red and silver jewels seemed to fit in perfectly, so I wore them on my fingers, wrist and ears. I chose a simple pair of black booties to tie the entire look together.

Being a Fashionista, I always think about creating new outfits and often pull my inspiration from fashion shows. The red, white and black outfit from Cut25’s show inspired me. I paired different pieces together and felt stylish, classy and fun. It’s safe to say that these individual pieces will be staples in my wardrobe for the rest of the season.
