STYLE GURU STYLE: Black, White And Gray All Over

Black and white is always a classic look, but it is also a huge trend seen throughout the pre-fall 2015 collections. This trend is not exclusive to just black and white pieces paired together, but also includes graphic prints and plaids. One seen across many collections is a large-scale black and white plaid.

Lanvin’s pre-fall 2015 collection showcases a number of full looks and garments in this plaid print. This includes pants, blazers, coats and skirts. Many of these garments are even paired together, which really make a statement. While many plaids may read preppy or country, this one comes across as chic and sophisticated.

I decided to take a more understated route when it comes to the black and white plaid by incorporating it through my scarf. Scarves are one of my favorite wintertime accessories and a great way to add another element to an outfit, whether that is through the color or the print. I kept this look pretty basic with a gray cable knit sweater, black jeans, black booties and a black overcoat, which is another trend for the season.

Black and white is a go-to for everyone, so adding more visual interest to the outfit through black and white prints and plaids is a great option. In addition, incorporating shades of gray into a black and white look can highlight an aspect of the outfit while still maintaining the color story.

Get My Look: 1. A classic overcoat. 2. A plaid scarf. 3. A cozy, cable knit sweater.
