STYLE GURU STYLE: Black, White And Boho

In all honesty, I’m a Midwestern girl with a West Coast attitude. This winter was brutal for me. I hate wearing jeans, and I hate falling on ice. Both of those things happened frequently throughout the past few months. However, the days of single digit temperatures are over and it’s time to bust out the soft shorts and sundresses. Without a doubt, in terms of my personal style, this summer will be the summer of boho-chic. I’m a little obsessed with Valentino’s summer 2015 collection which definitely inspired my look.

Valentino’s collection was filled with dark paisley prints, loose silhouettes and a few deep-V necklines. The collection was a dark bohemian masterpiece. By layering and accessorizing, I was able to create a multidimensional look to channel Valentino. An emerging trend is the presence of deep-V surplice blouses. These are the perfect excuse to show off a cute bralette, like I did. I paired my top with floral soft shorts with fringe trim and suede booties. Finally I accessorized the look with a gypsy-esque statement necklace, and the mother of all summer trends, a black wide brim hat.

It’s tricky business in the summer creating a layered look without breaking a sweat the moment you walk outside. However, the perfect way to remain cool and look cool as temperatures rise is to rely on accessories. A long necklace, a couple of rings and of course a wide brim hat, can easily take a look from boring to bohemian.

Get My Look: 1. A surplice blouse. 2. Floral soft shorts. 3. A wide brim hat.
