STYLE GURU STYLE: Black to Black

Throughout the history of fashion, numerous designers have created collections of different shades of black. In Alexander Wang’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, the color black took over and left all other colors in the dust. Wang himself said, “Our customer wants black, so why not do an all-black collection?” Wang used this collection to give his consumers a very retail-friendly collection, which Wang hadn’t done in a while.

After exploring the collection, I wanted to try and recreate Wang’s looks. My take on the collection consisted of an all black outfit with little accents of silver for a night out with  friends before the end of semester. I decided to brush off the beautiful leather jacket my grandparents bought me for my birthday. I layered the jacket on top of a black tank that I had just received in the mail from Forever 21. Through this tank top, I found my accents of silver.

Instead of taking on hardware such as the ball-chain trim or multiple columns of silver snaps, I used the metallic embroidery and beading design on the top to add a little pop of sparkle to my ensemble. I added a simple, tight black skirt to wear as a bottom. A black skirt, such as the the one I have from Free People, is a great staple piece to own.

I paired this outfit with my new, basic black booties. They were fairly inexpensive, which is great to use for Downtown Athens as the bar-tar is extremely hard to stay away from and sadly has ruined many of my shoes. They are also extremely comfortable, which is great so I can wear them for a full night of fun and celebrating, especially when the semester ends!

Get My Look: 1. Black leather jacket. 2. A black top with detail. 3. A pair of simple black booties.
