STYLE GURU STYLE: Black Is The New Black

In the wise words of Wednesday Addams, “I’ll stop wearing black when they invent a darker color.” Regardless of the season, there is no way I could push aside the majority of my wardrobe. Black is forever, and I think every Fashionista/o and designer can agree with that. Although Vera Wang is the world’s most prominent wedding dress designer, she typically depicts herself as the all black wearing tomboy she was born as. In her spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, she displays her personal style by showcasing the perfect way to wear black even in the warmer seasons of spring and summer. Wang’s use of V-neck plunges on the black minis, rompers and jumpsuits give the pieces a lighter look, great for summer.

I decided to take this collection and flip it. Literally, I flipped it. Here, I am wearing a black romper with flared sleeves and a deep v-back instead of a v-neckline. While this could simply be worn as a night out assemble (paired with heels, a clutch and a dark lip), I chose it for a more daytime look. I threw on my favorite gold snake ring and cuff bracelet with my Louis Vuitton cross-body bag, perfect for holding my essential Velvet Teddy MAC lipstick. For shoes, I decided to keep the ankle strap trend going with some two-toned sandals.

As my spirit animal Karl Lagerfeld says, of course, “one is never over-dressed or underdressed in a little black dress.” My take on this little black romper follows the same lines. You can dress it up or dress it down during any season.
