STYLE GURU STYLE: Black as a Spring Color

Before we know it, spring will have sprung and our lives with be flooded with floral patterns and pastel colors. Don’t get me wrong, I love spring and everything that comes with it, but the color scheme isn’t always my style. I try to incorporate lighter colors into my wardrobe as the sun starts to shine again, but at my core I will always be drawn to darker colors, and I personally don’t see anything wrong with that. The only person who can stop you from wearing black in April is yourself.

This outfit is on the edgier side of spring wear. I am wearing a long, black off-the-shoulder dress. What I love about this dress is how subtle the floral print is, giving it a feminine contrast to the black. The style is perfect for spring, showing a little skin with the bare shoulders and slits up the side. I paired this dress with beige booties to lighten the outfit a little and stay away from my usual monochromatic style. I always accessorize with rings, because I love how subtle they are while adding a little something to every outfit. I also balanced out my bare shoulders with a plain black choker, adding a little more edge to the outfit. I finished off my outfit with my favorite pair of reflective sunglasses, which are cute and functional.

The moral of this outfit is to be bold in your fashion choices. If you have a personal style that makes you feel at your best, don’t let the season dictate what you wear to the point where you no longer feel like yourself. Always add your own flare, and wear what makes you happy.
