The simple combination of white and black has made a huge comeback. It seems as if every designer has at least one outfit that consists of only these two colors. The Kaelen resort 2015 collection was entirely black and white. It was stunning and effortlessly sophisticated. Even though prints were not prominent and the color palette consisted of two colors, not a single outfit was boring.
Kaelen has big bold stripes in their collection that I love but I was afraid to wear. I promise, I have over ten black and white striped tops that I have not worn. I feared looking like I was wearing a prisoner’s uniform. I felt inspired and decided to rip the tags off and take this top out for a spin. Although Kaelen doesn’t have any cropped tops in their collection, I opted for this style because the summers in Texas are brutal.
Then I took the next big risk, white pants. I love white but it’s a disaster waiting to happen. The key to pulling off anything white is the fabric. I like these pants because they are light and very easy to wash. To make your outfit even more casual you can try some linen pants.
In this collection, black heels are used for almost every outfit, but realistically I could not wear heels to class. I currently love the “ugly-shoe trend” and decided to give my black Birkenstocks a go. I would recommend these to anyone. It doesn’t matter what you wear these shoes with! They look great with everything and they are comfortable.
If you are in a rut with your wardrobe, start with these two basic colors. You won’t believe how easy it will be to find an outfit you like. Best part, with a switch of shoes you can easily take this look from class to downtown.
