STYLE GURU STYLE: Black and Blue

Ah, the birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and the air is crisp. I don’t know about you but springtime is my favorite time of year. It is a great time to refresh your lifestyle—”out with the old and in with the new” kind of mindset. With spring time here, classes are almost over (yay!), but soon comes the dreaded finals…We won’t talk about that yet. This time of year calls for voluminous silhouettes and bright pastels, so those of us whose wardrobe mainly consists of black can be challenged by this notion of color. Well as a fellow Style Guru who loves black clothing, I am here to help!

As I mentioned the silhouettes of spring become feminine, voluminous, and a little flirty, making it difficult to wear your beloved black clothes. Pairing your favorite black mom jeans with some feminine vibes will have you on your way! This blue top is great for spring because of the lightweight fabric and the off-the-shoulder trend shows some skin! But you might be thinking, “Blue and black together? No way!” Actually it is a great way to ease into that pastel color palette with a lighter shade, try to stay away from a darker navy blue. As for accessories, metallics and dainty jewelry give it some fresh perspective and balance out the heavy black denim.

Spring is a very breezy season with all new flowers and leaves so to match this the makeup look I choose was also a very light and easy. A subtle contour and shadow makes you look as if you have some sun. Then adding a pink lip adds another one of those things we call color, to this outfit. And I, of course, cannot forget about highlighter. Add it to the top of your cheek bones, inner eye, tip of your nose, and the bow of your lips for a fresh face.

Now go show off how you style your black clothes for spring!
