STYLE GURU STYLE: Be Bold Baby, Be Bold

Mara Hoffman is known by many to be fearless when it comes to wild electric prints and unique silhouettes in her designs. In her spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, she stunned the crowd with a very different spin on her usual designs. Hoffman decided to go with a more muted color palette and relaxed silhouettes. However, she did use a pattern that resembled palms on various models throughout her show. That particular design is what inspired me with the outfit I stepped out of the house in.

Taking the inspiration from Hoffman’s beautiful muted tone collection, I went on the hunt for an adorable summer dress that I could purchase. I found this gem in Urban Outfitters, but For Love and Lemons designed it. The open back cut of the dress adds a bit of flair to the design and is perfect for the warm summer weather. The short cut of the dress makes it versatile—it can be worn to a summer party, on a dinner date or even as a guest to a wedding.

I chose to pair this pattern with a camel colored pair of mules and simple jewelry because I wanted the dress to be the main focus of my outfit. I put my hair up in a ballerina bun so that the back of the dress was visible. The secret to walking the streets in patterns is to make sure that you pair the main statement piece with simple complementing accents; Rocking two loud patterns at the same time can be a bit too overwhelming.

My closet is full of light summer dresses that are perfect for intense summer sun and that never go out of style. This dress is perfect for a girly lunch date or just a night out on the town.

Get My Look: 1. Bold patterned dress. 2. Simple mules. 3. Small purse.
