STYLE GURU STYLE: Baring Those Shoulders

Ohne Titel’s spring 2017 ready-to-wear was the main inspiration behind this month’s look. This runway collection consisted of mostly lightweight, flowy fabrics with some peek-a-boo shoulders here and there. There were also a handful of neck accessories in the line as well. Ohne Titel is a womenswear brand designed by Alexa Adams and Flora Gill. Before the brand came about, the best friend duo worked together under Karl Lagerfeld; talk about a powerhouse. They fluidly translate intricate detail with technology to produce their own personalized fabrics.

The look that caught my eye had an off-the-shoulder top with a choker. The bare shoulder look and choker trend is coming back from the past in full swing. I am a firm believer that fashion is cyclic and it’s officially summer now, so why not show a little skin? Living in Chicago for the summer is a dream come true for me. However, living just a few blocks from Michigan Avenue and Topshop hasn’t been so nice to my wallet; hence this next piece in my ensemble. I’m normally not one for patterns, but I couldn’t resist this bardot top with a scarf smock print from, you guessed it, Topshop. To add onto my translation of the runway style, I paired the top with a new purchase of mine: a distressed white denim skirt from H&M. This skirt has been my summer go-to garment. It’s easy to slip on and wear with just about anything. I was on the hunt for this for what seemed like forever! I am very picky when it comes to shorts and skirts, so I was waiting to come across the perfect one. Lastly, I added a simple bandana around my neck. I never thought wearing a bandana in general would come back in style, yet here I am.

Last, the shoes. Sometimes, when I am putting together an outfit, the shoes can either be the most important or the least important. I’m weird and it just depends on the shoe I guess. In this case, I wanted to play it casual. I slipped on a pair of black, double banded sandals which I think pulled together the entire look.

Get My Look: 1. Scarf smock bardot top. 2. Similar white denim skirt. 3. Black bandana.
