STYLE GURU STYLE: Barely There

Now that spring is finally here, we can officially start wearing our favorite fashion items for the season! Spring, is my favourite season and it is a great time to sort through one’s closet and purchase new items to feel renewed. Across most runways during spring 2016 fashion shows were exposed shoulders, white button-downs and bohemian elements.

Milly’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection broke away from the literal interpretation that most runways had with the idea of a lush nature theme, and instead went with a feeling of summer love in a non-traditional sense.

Milly’s designer, Michelle Smith, used texture within her pieces to offer a new sense of ease and effortlessness. Smith’s collection featured many unexpected elements that are unique for this season, such as, layered miniskirts over an long T-shirt dress, or an airy slip dress. Smith’s chic looks had minimal details that leave room for a woman to make the look her own, as well as, feel free. The collection was reminiscent of spring, but had a modern feel that made it new and exciting.

I was inspired by Milly’s spring collection and tried to incorporate some of those same elements into my outfit. I layered a long sweater over a crisp white button-down for an unexpected look. I’m on-trend, by incorporating bare shoulders in my outfit. I paired the sleeveless button-down with a sweater that had a wider neckline for an off-the-shoulder look. I wore a pair of black studded heels to add a modern touch to my outfit.

Get My Look: 1. Sleeveless collared shirt. 2. Sweater. 3. Studded heel.
