STYLE GURU STYLE: Back To Black

Fashion Week is an inspiring time for all fashion lovers anxiously awaiting the reveal of the latest innovative trends. In recent years, we’ve been struck with Astrakhan fur in Fendi and Tom Ford shows in fall 2014, elaborate fringe embellishment in Calvin Klein and Marc Jacobs spring 2014 collections and minimalist uniform dressing in Valentino’s fall/winter collection of 2012. Each of these trends has appeared throughout the fashion world, alluring many men and women to try the look out for themselves.

On the Australia spring 2015 runway, Bianca Spender revealed a collection appealing to the wide variety of women who seek the pairing of simplicity and edge. Inspired by “bird flight and the movement of dancers” Spender combines monochromatic suiting and deep V necklines to create an elegant and feminine collection.

In this look, I drew inspiration from the fluidity of Spender’s designs. By pairing a black bodysuit with black pants, I created a color dynamic similar to many of the matching sets throughout the collection. In order to make a more casual look better suited for everyday wear, I incorporated a jean jacket and chained collar. I then finished off the look with a pair of strappy flatform sandals to give myself a little extra height and best mimic the feathered straps used on the runway.

To give it an edgier look, consider swapping the jean jacket for a cropped shag cardigan or flatform sandals for high heel pumps.

Get My Look: 1. Any solid colored bodysuit. 2. Matching pants. 3. A classic jean jacket. 4. Statement collar.
