STYLE GURU STYLE: Athleisure

It’s here. It’s finally happened. Sweatpants are “in!” I thought I’d never see the day where elastic waistbands and baggy bottoms would be adorned on the pages of every fashion magazine and style blog. It’s an awesome and versatile fall trend that is actually really easy to translate into your everyday style. In fact, you might have already been doing it! A runway show that I really think did a great job of predicting and executing this trend is the Chanel spring 2014 couture show. Lagerfeld featured various sneakers with clean light pieces of varying textures. Just to reinforce the “athleisure” concept further he paired the outfits with knee/ankle pads, and colorful fanny packs. It was fun, simple and easy to apply to your everyday wear.

I loved translating this look to my own style, because I had a few pieces to work with and choose from. And I could go to class right after I shot this!  I chose to start off with my sheer stripe yoga pant.  It’s black, it’s formfitting and with the sheer a little sassy to stand apart from other yoga pants.  Then I paired it with a sleeveless paneled fleece and faux leather top.  I really love this shirt, because I feel like it is the definition of athleisure.  It’s comfy and soft from the fleece, loose and versatile due to the shape but unique from the faux leather panel. I chose my high-tops, because I really liked how the two-toned gray mixed with my top and bottom, and how the sheer stripe just disappears into the shoe.  To top it off I tied an old bomber jacket around my waist to complete the “three piece rule”, and grabbed my orange and navy backpack to give it some color.
