STYLE GURU STYLE: April Showers Bring the Flowers

I know what you are all thinking. Cue Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada, “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” I will admit that florals are overdone every year when the spring season rolls around, but who can blame us for wanting to put some life into our wardrobe after a long and dull winter?

I found my inspiration for my STYLE GURU STYLE within Burberry’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear runway show. I have been a diehard fan of Burberry since they made their comeback, quite literally, in style and their collection turned out to be one of my favorites for the fall 2016 season. I was obsessed with the dark florals and I can certainly work with the layers, as Indiana weather can be fickle in any season. As the days get brighter and warmer, it becomes more of a necessity to let our legs breathe; it’s time to break out the shorts, rompers and dresses, Fashionistas.

I channeled Burberry within my look through the dark color palette in my floral romper. Then, I added layers on top with my sweater, and threw on a utility-style mini-backpack. I found that this look was perfect for going to class or as a casual weekend look. It is also versatile and can be tweaked for a night out or a date night by swapping a sweater for a leather jacket or a backpack for a clutch.

The entire collection exudes a cool, tomboy vibe within each look shown. Although the florals make the pieces feminine and romantic, the layers add an edgy and masculine element. Whether you want to layer on a sweater, denim utility jacket or even a leather jacket, you can take inspiration from Burberry for any occasion on campus.

Get My Look: 1. Floral romper. 2. Oversized sweater. 3. Mini backpack.
