STYLE GURU STYLE: An Ode To The '70s

There’s no doubt in my mind that Veronica Etro might actually be a fashion genius. Her spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection is by far one of my favorites this season. Etro ditches modern day technology and hand makes a beautifully bohemian collection. Her customized runway show consisted of dyed, braided, embellished and patterned pieces with an ode to the ‘70s. Her collection brought texture and print to a whole new level with an ease that showcased her raw talent. To me, her looks portrayed a free spirited woman connected to nature and her surroundings. Her message of freedom is one that I strive to express in my personal style.

The hippie feel of this collection is exactly how I would characterize my own style. With Native American vibes and flowing fabric, her collection is my ultimate fashion influence this spring. I replicated these layered looks with a textured sweater and printed harem pants. Although her collection strayed away from pants and trousers, I wanted to imitate the faded dyes and washes that her collection incorporated. I also added a fringe purse to bring in more of the ‘70s feel. I am always trying to find ways to add a bohemian flare to my style without overstating the trend.

Taking inspiration from this collection and making it my own, I kept it casual so it can be worn to class, out with friends or even just hanging around at home. I opted for one print and chose supporting pieces that add texture and layers. Usually I would go for a more subtle print but I wanted to take this hippie chic look to the next level. This look is an understated version of Etro’s spring 2015 collection yet still gives me a bohemian flare.

Get My Look: 1. Tie-dye harem pants. 2. Black sweater. 3. Fringe tote.
