STYLE GURU STYLE: All Choked Up

Plenty of trends from the decades have made quite the comeback in fashion. From crop tops and turtlenecks to high-waisted jeans and slip dresses, the ’90s have made a huge blast from the past. Chokers are the hottest trend that has made a comeback, as they cling around the necks of so many Fashionistas.

This past runway season, the choker made its way down the runway as a staple accessory. Specifically, the Balmain fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection included edgy, glamorous chokers. While some were metal, others were combined with an elegant stone to create a regal look. There was a chic take on corsets and body decorations, such as the use of tassels. However, the best decoration is Olivier Rousteing’s use of chokers to complete many of his looks.

Taking inspiration from the Balmain collection, I wore a black velvet choker to spruce up my simple outfit. The choker gives the look a ’90s goth vibe. My look includes a white T-shirt, distressed jean shorts and quilted espadrilles. I paired my apparel with my Chloé handbag.

If your outfit seems something that plain Jane would wear and you think you need a miracle, then think again! The choker answers all of your fashion prayers by taking your outfit to the next level and transforming a bland look into a glam one.

If you’re not looking to wear an over the top outfit, a choker can also still keep your outfit casual, but it will give it a great pop of on-trend edge.

Get My Look: 1. Velvet choker. 2. Any white T-shirt. 3. A pair of denim shorts.
