STYLE GURU STYLE: All About That Lace

As the temperatures start to drop and the leaves start to change colors, fall is finally starting to appear. The season of pumpkin spice lattes, bean boots and wool scarves is upon us. However, in Williamsburg it still reaches 75 degrees by the middle of the afternoon, so dressing for this inconsistent weather can be difficult. When you have fall temperatures as you’re getting ready for your first class and a warm summer day by the time you get out, its tricky knowing what to wear. That’s why its great to look to the runways for inspiration for the perfect outfit for any temperature.

I was inspired by Burberry’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, particularly the color palette used and the sheer lacy touches paired with adorable military-inspired jackets. I wanted to take those elements and apply them to something I’d be comfortable wearing to class and walking around campus in. I was also inspired by one of my all time favorite runway shows, Elie Saab’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection. This was the show that made me fall in love with the jumpsuit. The designer highlighted how feminine and fun a jumpsuit can be, and it was at that point I decided I needed one, or maybe four.

Taking inspiration from these two amazing collections, I paired my simple black jumpsuit with a lace halter bralette. This peek of lace channels both the color scheme of the Burberry show and the sheer lacey touches seen throughout the collection. I also added my platinum Jack Rogers sandals, which are a great way to put a little pep in your step and they go with just about everything. I finished off the look with a leather studded bracelet and a pink wrap around bracelet. After all, an outfit isn’t complete without some good accessories, and a smile!
