STYLE GURU STYLE: Afternoon Meetings to Evening Happenings

Summer might not contain as many school hours, but that does not mean your to do list just magically gets shorter. Over the past few weeks, I’ve felt like I’ve always been on the go. It’s a great problem to have, but a problem none the less. In the meantime, I’ve been repeating some of my favorite pieces that I can easily transform from afternoon meetings straight into evening happenings.

Taking inspirations from the Chanel spring 2015 ready-to-wear Collection, I combined accessories and beauty tricks to help transform the same dress from the afternoon straight into the evening. In the Chanel collection you see many colorful outfits but there were also more monochromatic outfits that inspired me for this look. I used a fun patterned dress that was inspired by the more clean and classic looks from the collection and let my accessories be fun and wild like some of the really colorful and creative outfits from the collection. I wanted to create a look that used both elements of the collection.

This week, one of my favorites has been this drop waist dress from Eula Ferns. Wearing a monochromatic black and white dress, I had more flexibility to play with my accessories. I went from a satchel shoulder bag and a pair of Converse to a statement clutch and a classic black wedge that transitioned from comfy casual to classic and pulled together. For my afternoon look, I did a partial top knot and let some loose curls frame my face. This whimsical hair style was inspired by the style of some of the runway outfits. It is a chic look that doesn’t require too much effort. If I wanted to dress it up to carry straight into the evening I would do a soft, side-swept twist that kept fly-aways out of my face. I would also pair it with a mustard clutch for an added pop of color like I saw in the Chanel ready-to-wear collection.

I love transforming my makeup because it is such an easy way to take my look from day to night. By just changing to a bolder red, the mood of my look would change to a more romantic feel. I would chose a red because that is what I was inspired by from the Chanel color palette to really pull my look together.

Take some of your favorite summer dresses or work wardrobe and see how you can transform it from afternoon meetings to evening happenings and totally change your style.
