STYLE GURU STYLE: A White Getaway

This spring, fashion weeks around the world have made epic statements for the industry. As summer approaches, resort lines have emerged as the trademark for the upcoming season. Recently at Tunisia’s fashion week, Max Azria hosted the BCBGMAXAZRIA 2015 resort collection in celebration of the brand’s 25th anniversary. The clothing perfectly conveys Max Azria’s Tunisian heritage. Embroidery, scarf skirts, shirt dresses and capes gave a African inspiration to the line. And just in time for resort weather, every model was dressed in white.

I tested this look with a white Parker mini dress as the center of my ensemble. The fit of the dress is flirty and flattering for a hot, summer day. The neckline makes the dress conservative but still playful because it works with the geometry of the garb. Its tribal embroidery overlays the entire dress, resembling those in Max Azria’s runway show. This gives the dress texture and adds to the shape. To portray the hints of black and blue in Max Azria’s clothing, I paired this dress with black espadrilles and a beaded necklace. The espadrilles have a small platform to give height to the look. The beaded necklace gives a trendy but rustic edge to the outfit that Max Azria focused on as the theme of the line. As he would say, “The most energized BCBG styles mixed the old and new.”

The BCBCMAXAZRIA 2015 resort collection inspired me to take a different approach with my style. I chose a look that was both old and new, and mixed patterns within the finer details. The result? I loved this look and the idea of keeping heritage key in personalizing your style.
