STYLE GURU STYLE: A Tribute To Black And White

Chanel’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection was filled with luscious black and white outfits, which were trademarked in simplicity and grace. The classic French style was oozing from every surface. Going back to the traditional roots, Lagerfeld took the position of an outsider looking in on French society. And it was magical. Everything about the collection from materials, color schemes and even venue brought the looks together in a very unified way.

Keeping in mind that many of the looks are considered a bit avant-garde, I attempted to bring a day-to-day, casual feel. My main focus here was the combination of black and white. With some cozy, shiny leggings, I added a bit of contrast to the look. I stuck with a large black T-shirt as the base of my top. This kept everything extremely comfortable and simple. I topped it with a pullover white V-neck top. The ribbing adds for some additional texture. The loose fit of the sweater is both flattering and consumer-friendly.

I added a large fedora and a lightweight shopping tote because they made the whole look feel a bit more fashionable. It’s simplicity at its finest. This outfit is ideal for a day out and about, whether that’s at class, shopping, the library or just about anywhere else you can think of. The heels were my spin on bringing the entire look up a notch. It came together exactly as I wanted it. With the accessories playing in at just the right level, I felt like I needed a cappuccino and a French novel in hand.

All in all, the movement and feel of these fabrics made me feel amazing all day long. I stood out in just the right way at every place I went.

Get My Look: 1. A simple pair of shiny leggings. 2. An oversized white sweatshirt. 3. Some simple black heels. 4. A large fedora.
