STYLE GURU STYLE: A Trench Coat Moment

Statement jackets are one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. Whether floor-length, faux fur or shearling trimmed, it always spices up my simple look. I am constantly on the hunt for fun additions to my wardrobe and with a recent visit to my local thrift store, my latest obsession has arrived. My favorite statement coat trend for spring has been the classic trench coat.

In my opinion, trench coats should be a staple in every woman’s wardrobe. The trench coat silhouette is timeless, feminine and versatile, making it the perfect spring statement jacket. Judging from the Burberry fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection, this trend isn’t going anywhere! This collection proved once again, that the trench coat would be nothing without the Burberry name. The collection displays the flexibility women have with this trend, whether it be glamour or grunge, the trend works! I loved the way the floor-length coats were paired with mini dresses and edgy boots to counterbalance the structured, classic style of the trench coat.

The Burberry fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection inspired me to pair my olive, vintage trench coat with edgy and bold pieces in my wardrobe. I paired one of my favorite spring mini dresses with the long jacket to have differing lengths and then accessorized with my floral, vintage neck tie and suede thigh-high boots to add edge. I loved this look because it allowed me to be daring in my accessories even with the bold trench coat. The differing textures, hemlines and edgy shoes gave me total Burberry vibes and I was loving every minute of it.

After gushing over this collection, I have learned that my statement jackets don’t have to be worn with simple or boring accessories. The suede boots and mini dress give it a fabulous, modern ensemble and I all encourage you to sift through your local vintage store to find your own fab trench.

Get My Look: 1. Any simple shift dress. 2. A classic trench coat. 3. Black thigh-high boots. 4. A neck scarf.
