STYLE GURU STYLE: ’90s, Word.

If you haven’t heard anything about Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week 2016, you are either living under a rock or have no interest whatsoever in anything fashion. But if the second option is the case, what are you even doing reading this?

Alexander Wang’s collection caught my eye in a way that personally appealed to my style. From the hybrid moto denim jacket to the chain-embellished sandals, this collection seemed to be speaking to me.

Denim, denim, denim! Denim jackets, flared pants, button-ups, vests and skirts. If it starts with ‘d’ and ends with ‘enim’, you got me. This collection featured floor-length skirts, cropped jeans, men’s trousers and mid-rise shorts, bringing the ’90s back to the runway. Along with denim, fringe played a dominant role in this collection—incorporated in a bustier top, a flared dress, a parka and a bag, this hot trend is not backing down any time soon. A few other styles were brought into the collection: mesh, floor-length everything, thick vertical stripes and a rad maroon jacket!

When looking at myself, I incorporated denim on denim. I’m not sure whether or not this trend will fully make its way back, but I decided recently that I really dig this look, so I went for it! The mid/low-rise is back on the prowl, so I recently bought some mid-rise jeans from Old Navy and gave them a few cuts to throw it back to the ’90s.

The denim button-up is a thrift store find—cha-ching! Finally, a pair of grungy maroon vegan Doc Marten’s, a beanie, a cool scarf and some aviators pull this look together.

Get My Look: 1. Mid-rise jeans  2. Denim button-up  3. Aviators.
