STYLE GURU STYLE: ’60s Unmentionables

Undergarments are no longer just for behind closed doors! Lingerie-inspired pieces are a major trend this spring season. This style might seem intimidating, but it is actually super simple to conquer. The key is to keep the lingerie “feel” to your own comfort level. Personally, I am a little modest. A subtle lingerie touch here and there is perfect for me, especially when I can pair it with a style I am comfortable with, such as the revival of the styles from the ’60s!

Chloé’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection is exactly what I am looking for in a lingerie-inspired look. The collection is a flirty mixture of shoulder-bearing tops, lace, denim, delicate accessories and boho, floral and paisley prints. I was influenced by the collection because I really liked how the two different styles were combined so effortlessly in each look that came down the runway.

Taking inspiration from this line, I was able to combine some subtle sultry with some hippy-flare of the ’60s. That’s two spring 2016 style trends in one ensemble! So rad! In my Chloé-vibed creation, I started with my lingerie-inspired lace crop top. I wanted to keep the lingerie style to a minimum, so everything else about my look was inspired by the ’60s, just like a large majority of the looks in the Chloé collection.

A pair of American Eagle Outfitters high-waisted jeans and ’60s-inspired heeled sandals finished off the bottom portion of my ensemble. As for accessories, I really reached to what the collection showed me. The Chloé 2016 spring line accessories were made up of delicate bangles and long necklaces. I used a long necklace and three small bangles for my jewelry in the look. As a finishing touch, I topped off the look with a pair of round, floral print sunglasses. The sunglasses added another ’60s vibe and was a nod to the floral print used in the Chloé spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection!

Get My Look: 1. Lace top. 2. High-waisted jeans. 3. Block heels. 4. Round sunglasses.
