I am a lover of summer. The weather is great because sun is out and the snow is finally gone! I also love being able to wear less layers and let the sun shine its beautiful rays on me. Not for too long though, because unfortunately I burn pretty easily.
I also love summer because of how resort-influenced the clothes become. Which brings me to the fashion show I researched this week. I loved Lindsey Thornburg’s spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection. It was fresh, had many beautiful patterns and trendy looks. She said that her secret weapon for the past couple of years was a Nashville based tie dye artist. For this collection she was pleased to achieve a kaleidoscope look for her pieces that were each intriguing and unique in their own way. I loved that each look was very fresh and luxurious looking. I imagine that the woman who would buy from this designer probably spends her summers in the Hamptons relaxing on the beach in her kaleidoscope cover up.
I tried this look for a day outfit and think I achieved the feel of the runway show. I actually bought this dress months ago and have yet to wear it. It happened to be extremely similar to the kaleidoscope prints in Thornburg’s show. It was a bit chilly that day, so I also paired my fun print dress with a super light weight cardigan to keep me warm. I think completing the look with a big floppy hat would give this outfit justice!
