STYLE GURU PICKS: Fall Boots

As nice it would be to slip on sandals, wear dresses sans tights and happily let an ice cream cone melt all over our hands (well, with napkins available, of course), fall does not call for any of those things—unless you live in those “sunny” states. ‘Tis the season for wool tights, lots of layers, warm beverages and my personal favorite—boots. So if you’re not one to get a pedicure every month, this is the season for you. Boots will not judge unadorned toes.

If you’re ready to make a commitment to the chilly season, then grab the closest scarf and let boot hunting season begin. If you’re too busy with tests and group projects to go to the stores yourself, then don’t worry. Our Style Gurus have got you covered with their favorite fall boot pick. So sit back, minimize that paper you’re writing and find your new fall boots.

1. ‘Rumi’ Leather Bootie

Danielle Szatkowski

“Anything platform is chic and a total eye-catcher.”- Danielle Szatkowski, Oakland University

2. Textured Riding Boot

Theresa Enright

Over-the-knee boots were all over the runway for the fall, and they’re a fun statement piece to try and style with. I pair mine with an oversized sweater and extra long socks on those chilly fall-to-winter transition days for a super cozy and stylish look.”- Theresa Enright, North Carolina State University

3. Thelma Suede Ankle Boot

Bridget Deely

“A colored, suede ankle boot is a great way to add a pop of color and texture to break up the 50 shades of monochrome. Plus I love how you can play up the western influence of the ankle boots with a wide brim fedora.”- Bridget Deely, University of Pittsburgh

4. Laced Up Over-The-Knee Boots

Sarah Sparks

Over-the-knee boots are one of my favorite picks for this season because they really lengthen my frame and make me seem taller! The burgundy color of the boots are unique and suit fall outfits perfectly. Also, the cosy suede material makes the shoes easier to move in, yet they still keep me warm.”- Sarah Sparks, Brigham Young University

5. Cut Out Ankle Boots

Danielle Gasparro (1)

The decade of the fall season is the ’70s. These chunky cutout ankle booties are a perfect modern nod to this groovy time. They are a perfect height to wear with jeans or an awesome dress.”- Danielle Gasparro, West Virginia University

6. Over-The-Knee Boots

Shannon Ciricillo

These boots are sleek, chic and can make any outfit pop. I’m dying to snag a pair myself once the weather cools down and pair it with a patterned, long-sleeve shift dress.”- Shannon Ciricillo, The University of Central Florida

7. Heel Suede Ankle Boot

Eva Thomas

I am obsessed with the ’70s right now, and these boots perfectly encompass this decade. The burnt orange, suede material is gorgeous and great for fall, and the boot’s versatility makes them a great investment. They can be worn with anything from a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans to a flowy, bell sleeve dress.”- Eva Thomas, University of Minnesota

8. Combat Boots

Silvia Dykstra

It’s edgy when paired with jeans, but cute when paired with dresses and skirts. Thus, versatile to match any outfit this fall.”- Silvia Dykstra, University of South Florida

9. Zippered Faux Leather Booties

Megan Zelasko

They are comfortable but also stylish and help add edge to any ensemble. They also go with everything in my wardrobe.”- Megan Zelasko, Kent State University
