STYLE GURU BIO: Xinyi Wang

Hi there, Fashionistas/os. This is my second semester being a Style Guru at CollegeFashionista and I could not be more excited. I’m a sophomore at University of Wisconsin-Madison and also an international student from China.

I didn’t expect too much right after I joined CollegeFashionista, since to me, Madison was only a college town hidden in the Midwest. After a semester of writing and taking pictures, I discovered many trends and stylish people in Madison. The deadline every week means more new discoveries to me.

Everyone can have access to fashion. I always thought fashion is about the new purse from Prada or that Marc by Marc Jacobs runway show. It is in our everyday life because we all have style attitudes. The word fashion sounds quite intimidating sometimes, but CollegeFashionista makes it acceptable to everyone. Students from different races and with a variety of dressing attitude were my models last semester, and they expanded my view of fashion.

In this photo shoot, I combined boho with city style. A light blue dress with lace sides couldn’t be a better choice for summertime. In order to not match it with overly similar light color accessories, I picked black. The black cross-body bag looks small, but could fit many things. It’s the top choice when shopping with friends during a summer afternoon. The black flats with a small bow tie makes the shoes look more exquisite.

Winter in Wisconsin could be a little boring, but nothing stops the summer coming. I am thrilled to find more trendy people in town and write about them. It’s not about what they are wearing, but why they love it.
