Style is something that goes beyond being fashionable. It’s the way we dress, walk, write, behave, think and live. Our style is what makes us who we are; it allows us to wear the same clothes or work the same job as someone else, but do so in a different way. It’s the one sure thing we have control over and for that reason, it should be celebrated every day.
This semester marks my one year anniversary as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of #TheNewCF relaunch. While completing my senior year as a Fashion Merchandising and Management major at Philadelphia University, I’ll be working as the web editor for StyleLine Magazine (my school’s student run fashion publication) as well as the Editor-in-chief of a new online publication, darlamagazine.com.
Can you guess what type of career I plan on pursuing when I graduate? Hint: I spend so much time with my MacBook that it’s basically my boyfriend now.
My internship experience has been an immeasurable one and I can’t thank the CollegeFashionista team enough for this opportunity. From learning how to effectively communicate with strangers to becoming a better photographer, editor, writer and overall self-starter, I feel like I’m totally ready to start living out my journalism dreams.
Aside from writing, there are a few other things that make me who I am. Music will always be one of my first loves and I will never be too old to spend hours watching different versions of Cinderella. I’m one of those Eagles fans that takes every game seriously (I can be kind of embarrassing at times) and I enjoy chill nights hanging out with the people I love the most. I’m always seeking to learn new things, so I spend a lot of time reading, especially about awesome women who are making positive changes in the world.
Fall fashion is truly one of my favorite things about life. I’m that girl who wears oversized plaid shirts and beanies like it’s November all year long. My current obsessions are loose fitting jeans, gold chains and my ever-growing collection of T-shirts. I also love shirtdresses, anything pink (especially shoes!) and of course, I could never survive a fall without a leather jacket and a perfect pair of sunglasses. My style changes from day to day, but with both fashion and beauty, I consider myself to be very laid back. I have the simple belief that every look is better with a matte lipstick and a subtle, cool nail polish statement.
When it comes to style, the most important thing is that you stay true to yourself. Follow your heart with everything you do and make the way you dress, walk, write, behave, think and live be a reflection of who you want to become.
