STYLE GURU BIO: Victoria Gevurtz

“Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.” Coco Chanel is given credit for these thoughtful and honest words, and they could not be truer in my eyes.

Hello, Fashionistas! My name is Victoria Gevurtz, and I will be returning to the CollegeFashionista family to write on behalf of Indiana University, Bloomington after taking a semester off.

Growing up, the fashion industry was never an interest of mine. I had intended to work in the sports medicine field and have been an athlete my entire life. However, as I got older, different components of my life began to come together. It was not until entering college that my curiosity for fashion had increased. I attended an all-girls private and uniformed school for 12 years prior to attending IU, which meant developing my closet started later in life. From different pairs of shoes to a vast number of lipstick colors, I was unstoppable. I’m typically known to wear colors of the gray scale. White, gray, black—they’re my favorite! When it comes to makeup, I must have my eyeliner winged and a dark red, purple or brown lip.

I credit growing up on the East Coast to my sense of style. Living in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and visiting and interning in New York City, I’ve been very lucky to be exposed to a lot of different things. My sights are set on moving to The Big Apple after graduation, and utilizing my public relations and advertising degree.

For this post, I was fortunate to be visiting California for my first time. The saying goes “West Coast, Best Coast,” and, although I’m an east coast girl at heart, I did enjoy my time by the ocean. Regardless of the climate during the wintertime, I’ve found that a pair of knee-high leather boots is becoming a staple in a woman’s closet. I paired my boots with a printed shift dress, a gold Quartz Crystal necklace and a black zip around wallet; a versatile look no matter what the weather!

As stated previously, I have a bit of an obsession with lipstick. So, of course, what’s an outfit without some? I’m wearing Antique Velvet by MAC lined with Bittersweet, also by MAC, to bring out the brown undertones.

So, that’s it, Fashionistas; let’s get ready for a great semester and don’t forget to Style On!
