STYLE GURU BIO: Victoria Benitez

Hola Fashionistas/os! My name is Victoria Benitez, and I currently attend the University at Buffalo. I am going to be a senior this upcoming fall semester, and I study English and Spanish. I am also a part of the Journalism certificate program at my university. I am more than thrilled to join the Style Guru team for CollegeFashionista this summer, and I am beyond excited to scout out the most fashion-forward college students of NYC!

Although Buffalo, New York is not the most fashionable city, it hits home for me, and when I find someone who has a unique sense of style, I love to give him or her credit for it. Standing out from the crowd has always been more natural for me because I find no reason in looking like the person next to me. I love to express myself through my clothing because you can really showcase yourself in so many ways, especially with a closet filled with pieces that truly resemble you as a person.

I started my budget-friendly beauty blog, Victoria’s Broke Secret, two summers ago, and creating my own network through social media has taught me so much about who I am and where I want to be in the future. I have interned for Cosmopolitan for Latinas Magazine as their 2014 summer editorial intern, and I am excited to announce that I will be returning to Hearst Corporation this summer to intern for O, The Oprah Magazine!  I cannot wait to hit the streets of New York this summer to find fashionable students that I can share with you.

My personal style has changed so much through the years. Once upon a time I used to be afraid of color! From bohemian vibes to classic feminine dresses, my overall style is filled with bold colors, beautiful prints and statement jewelry that I enjoy “borrowing” from my mother’s vanity.

I hope you join me on my New York City journey every Tuesday, and I look forward to presenting you this summer’s Fashionistas/os.
