Hello Fashionistas! My name is Vickie Nguyen and I am currently a junior at Louisiana State University majoring in fashion merchandising with a minor in business. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always had an interest in fashion, so I am super excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team for the summer of 2016!

Before college, I was set on majoring in biology and going to medical school. But after my freshman year, I realized that I was not passionate about becoming a doctor. I always thought about pursuing a career in fashion, but I was too scared of failure. In the middle of the fall semester of my sophomore year, I found the courage to finally change my major and I could not be happier. I know this is the right path for me and I am super excited for what the future holds.

My love for fashion started way back in my pre-teen years. While growing up, I was always on top of the latest trends of the early 2000s. Every trip to the mall included a shopping spree in my favorite store, Limited Too. Remember logo and graphic T-shirts, florals and denim and hair bows and ribbons? I owned almost every “trendy” item that swept the nation. One thing I love about fashion is that I could physically express myself without saying a single word. Fashion is fun and always changing. One day I could wear a super girly dress and the next day I could be in comfy sweats and a T-shirt. There is no limits to fashion and that is what I love most about it. As my love for fashion increased over the years, so did my love for makeup. I used to spend hours on YouTube watching makeup tutorials after school. Like fashion, makeup is a way to express myself and show off my creativity.

I’m definitely one who follows current trends, but I like to incorporate my own personal flair into everything. When it comes to fashion and style, I am very versatile. This summer I am really loving body suits and chokers. Overall, I would describe my style as lady-like and feminine, classic and timeless and laid back meets boho-chic. The top three staple pieces in my closet would be a flannel button down, a perfect pair of jeans and a pair of classic white sneakers.

Join me on my fashion journey with CollegeFashionista. I can’t wait to share the unique styles at Louisiana State University with all of you this summer!
