STYLE GURU BIO: Veronica Graves

Hey Fashionistas! I’m Veronica Graves and I’m a senior at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

YAWN! Moving on from the boring information that you don’t care about…

I’m originally from New York, and as many of you probably already know, New York is pretty much the fashion capital. So, whenever I want to change up my look, or add some spice to it, I look right in my backyard. I’m constantly seeking out new ideas, styles and trends that one would never find anywhere else, which is why New York is the best. However, it isn’t the ONLY.

To take it to the other side of the country, I lived in Los Angeles this past summer. Los Angeles was amazing because I saw a completely different variety of styles, but they were so different than most of what I had seen in New York. However, now having been out in L.A. for a few months, when I’m on the East Coast, I can totally pick someone out in a crowd and know that they’re from California. It’s just a different vibe out there, but I would say just as great as over here.

I don’t really know how to describe my style. I can be trendy and chic, like a New Yorker, but I can also be kind of urban-indie and more relaxed, like many do in L.A. I’m always open to switching up my look because I feel like keeping the same type of look ALL the time gets boring. It’s always fun to change things around and see what works and what doesn’t. I have so many random pieces of clothing, but it makes it so much more fun getting dressed. I never know how I’m going to feel and now that I’ve lived on both ends of the country, I really just get dressed depending on how I’m feeling in the moment. So if I want to look L.A. while I’m in New York, I go for it! There are no fashion rules in my head, except the ‘no white jeans past Labor Day and before Memorial Day rule. That’s a pet peeve of mine.

In this particular look, I wanted to have a bit of color, (feeling festive) so I chose mustard. I don’t particular LOVE a lot of colors, but mustard is definitely one of the few that I don’t mind getting away with. It adds just enough without looking like it’s “too much”. As for my booties, they’re Steve Madden, and actually my favorite booties at the moment because of how comfortable they are. I honestly forget that there’s a heel because it’s chunky and they are so easy to walk in. As for my jacket, I love it because it’s olive…one of my other colors that I like to get away with wearing. The fact that it’s oversized makes it comfy, but also adds some balance to the tightness of my leggings. Didn’t accessorize too much with this outfit because I was going for more of a “cozy” feel, but I don’t go anywhere without my Louis Vuitton key pouch, and the ray-bans just added a bit of flare.

With all of that said, I hope you guys enjoy my article. I want to show you people from all over the place with all kinds of different looks. Hopefully you can take some ideas away from some of my featured looks and expand on your own looks, even though I’m sure you all look fab already. Variety is important, remember that!
