STYLE GURU BIO: Vanna Kasten

Hey everyone! My name is Vanna Kasten, and I am super excited to be starting my second semester off at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

In my spare time, I attend a lot of music events all over the United States which tend to give my parents a heart attack, but it’s quite the experience. With the time I spend traveling, I always keep an eye out for the latest trends.

Over the summer, I had the privilege to be hired at Francesca’s Collections as a part-time manager. I assisted with putting apparel tables together and dressing all the mannequins in the store; which gave me many opportunities to get creative. I learned a lot about stepping out of your comfort zone and wearing an outfit that represents myself, instead of wearing something I know will be approved by others. If you like it, wear it!

For my future career goals, I hope to become a fashion stylist and or to open up my own boutique. I would like to reside in New York but am willing to move for great career opportunities. I hopefully will have the chance to volunteer at New York Fashion Week in the upcoming year. I also plan to study abroad in my third semester to either London or Milan to expand my horizons on fashion.

Today, I am wearing a black romper with a hint of lace detailing, accompanied by an H&M green snake skin pattern kimono. I chose to wear little black booties that were appropriate for both walking the streets of Manhattan. I chose to accessorize with a long, golden, chain necklace, a few simple bracelets and my favorite watch from Fossil.

I can’t wait to start my hunt for the Fashionistas and Fashionistos at Fashion Institute of Technology.
