Hello fashion lovers! My name is Valerie Cammack, and I just finished my freshman year as a Fashion Merchandising major at Kent State University. I am so thrilled to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this summer! I am looking forward to the opportunity to highlight the fantastic street style that I see from Fashionistas/os in my hometown!
I have been passionate about fashion from a young age, of course my style has evolved and grown for the better since my childhood. Much of my inspiration comes from the street style of Fashionistas that I see every day. I love to start my day by sipping on a cup of coffee while carefully choosing the perfect outfit. I think it is imperative to be proud and excited about my wardrobe choice when I leave my house or dorm.
I spend a lot of my time working at the Justice in my local mall. I love seeing young girls with a love for fashion just like I did when I was young. I consider it a privilege to play even a small role in their fashion journey. When I am not working, I can be found at local coffee shops or shopping for the latest trends.
I am also very passionate about current beauty trends. In high school I was always excited to flip to the hair and beauty sections of my latest Teen Vogue or Seventeen. I can always been seen sporting a bold lipstick or dramatic cat eye and I have a weakness for a good eye shadow palette. I spend quite a bit of time following fashion and beauty bloggers and YouTubers.
My personal style includes a lot of clean lines and neutral colors. I live in black during the winter months. During spring and summer I tend to be bolder with my color choices. My summer life can be somewhat spontaneous, so comfort and flexibility are important to me. I tend to gravitate towards more versatile statement pieces, such as the suede skirt pictured above, that can be dressed up or down. An adaptable skirt can easily be paired with a bold printed blouse or a classic T-shirt. I always like to complete my looks with fun jewelry like the simple pendant seen above.
