STYLE GURU BIO: Ursh Khan

Hi there, Fashionistas/os! My name is Ursh and I’m double majoring in Corporate Communications and English Literature at Baruch College. This is my first semester joining the world of CollegeFashionista. Hooray! I’m so ecstatic.

I’m an artist, makeup hoarder and a fashion enthusiast. Being raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, art and culture has been embedded into my blood—from analyzing Aesop’s Fables in elementary school to attending Shakespeare plays in middle and high school at Lincoln Center. I thrive off of this lifestyle. But my love affair with fashion started even before that; I was three years old, surrounded by artsy-fartsy, fashionable family members. My grandpa was the true definition of a dapper gentleman and a big influence in my life. He had over 50 suits, dress shirts, pocket-squares, ties, vests—you name it. I would observe him steam the same clothes three times a day, making sure each wrinkle and fold was gone and all his shoes were polished and beautiful. He was a perfectionist and because of him, I’m a perfectionist.

I believe that the environment you are raised around impacts you greatly. Today, I’m absolutely in love with menswear. I’ve worked men’s runway shows for Mark McNairy through BPMW Agency, interned at House of Ermenegildo Zegna in the Public Relations department as well as worked at Club Monaco in both the men’s and women’s floor. There is so much you can do with menswear and I’m very fascinated by it. I enjoy styling my fashionistos and I love going shopping with them.

And of course, women’s wear is a huge part of my life! I’m inspired by many style icons, such as Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy, Olivia Palermo, Sophia Amoruso from NASTY GAL, and a lot of low-key bloggers such as Views of Now and Augusta Jeorgia. I’m also intrigued by beauty; makeup is an important part of my day because it MAKES your look and outfit. Lisa Eldrigde and Pat McGrath are my biggest inspirations within the cosmetics industry.

With CollegeFashionista, I’m looking forward to approaching fashionable students around New York City to capture their beautiful stylish efforts. I want to share my vision with you all and I hope that I can inspire some of you through what I think is beautiful.
