Hello fellow wardrobe connoisseurs! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Torri Walzem and I am a senior at the University of Dayton. I am majoring in Marketing with a minor in Communications in hope of someday working for one of the elite fashion magazines that I have loyally been reading (and dreaming about) for years.
Every morning starts off just about the same. I wake up (after 3 alarms), make myself a pot of coffee, and scrummage through my infinite wardrobe for a solid 20 minutes in hopes of finding something to wear. And with Ohio’s frigid temps and Vitamin D lacking blues, you’ll typically see me sporting one of my many beanies paired with my favorite black combat boots. The rest of my day consists of procrastinating all things dealing with school, and instead catching up with The Man Repeller, stalking Chiara Ferragni’s Instagram, updating one of my two Tumblr accounts, carefully analyzing the latest issue of Vogue and most importantly turning to Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss for daily style inspiration.
Fashion has always been a way of expressing myself. Through the years I have gone through a series of stages reflected by how I dressed at that particular milestone in my life, one including the infamous “punk” stage which was essentially Avril Lavigne everything (I still cringe thinking about it). However, after a series of phases I have finally found a more refined look that doesn’t involve dressing at some extreme side of the spectrum. And while my style is constantly evolving, I have successfully established a long-term relationship with the color black.
This spring I will be writing for LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS. And although anyone that knows me can tell you I have an incredible love for all things fashion, I must admit I was a little panicked when I found out I was going to be writing for LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS. Partially because my knowledge of men’s fashion is pale in comparison to my in-depth knowledge of women’s. However, even though I am unable to recite the names of must-know menswear designers behind luxury labels, I can easily spot a Fashionisto who knows what is trending and can effectively incorporate those trends into his own personal style.
CollegeFashionista has given me a blogging platform which I can build upon to showcase my personal knowledge of the fashion world. This spring, I am eager to show you not only the awesome outfits, but also the amazing Fashionistos behind them. I’ll clue you in on how to take current trends and make them your own. Cheers Fashionistas/os! This is only the beginning.
