STYLE GURU BIO: Tori Heppermann

Greetings Fashionistas/os! My name is Tori and I am a senior studying Journalism and Textile and Apparel Management at the University of Missouri-Columbia, informally referred to as Mizzou. This will be my first semester as a Style Guru and I’m so honored to be part of an amazing team filled with inspirational people who share the same love for fashion as I do.

I have always been intrigued by fashion. Having the ability to reveal your personality through clothing is a remarkable art form. Fashion is powerful and that’s what I love most about it. It allows creativity to blossom and can even give a voice to the voiceless. With fashion, I can embrace my love for change and spontaneity on a daily basis. Missouri is notorious for fast-changing weather. One day I could be wearing some high-waisted shorts and a crop top and the next day I’ll be rocking a leather jacket paired with my dark-wash skinnies. The Midwest weather remains very unpredictable.

I’m a firm believer in bargain shopping, making thrift shopping one of my all-time favorite hobbies. In my opinion, there’s no better feeling than finding your new favorite top hidden behind someone’s old wedding dress at Goodwill. It’s like digging for gold and there is always a chance you might come across the treasure chest.

Along with my passion for fashion comes a love for traveling. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve had the same, big-city dream. After growing up in a small town, I knew that I was never going to be satisfied unless I was able to experience more of the world. I’ve got wanderlust in my blood. This will be my last semester at Mizzou for I am Barcelona bound in January 2016 to finish up my senior year. After graduating, my dream is to design fashion magazines and travel the world as often as I can. As Charles Muntz once said, “Adventure is out there!”

This semester I look forward to sharing my perspective on fashion while showing off the beautiful people here at the Zou. Be sure to check out my posts every Tuesday and style on!
