STYLE GURU BIO: Theresa Evans

Oh, hey—I didn’t see you there. You know, I’m pretty bad at making jokes, clearly, but fashion—I’m pretty good at that. Fashion is my one true love.

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Theresa and I am so excited to be apart of the #GuruGang again this semester. I am a communication studies and English major at Rider University. I love making new friends which is why I’m stoked that you’re here.

That’s the thing about fashion: it brings us together; yet, it allows us to be drastically different at the same time. Individuality is so important when it comes to fashion. It makes you, you. You can say something to the world without ever opening your mouth. Now that’s powerful. Of course we all pick up on trends (even the ones we’ll regret), but the trick to having style is making a trend your own. Be daring. Be creative. Be you.

As we all know: beauty is pain. For me, comfort is key. Especially when you have to sit through lectures all day. If I have to sit through hours of boring classes, I’m going to be comfortable and I’m gonna look good at the same time.

On this winter day, I wore a black, oversized sweater with a pair of black jeggings. I added some color with a green beanie and a matching, winter scarf. Scarves are staple items for every college student. They keep you warm while you’re walking to class and they also double as a neck pillow for the lectures you just can’t sit through any longer. I threw on a pair of sneakers and called it a day. It’s simple, practical, and stylish.

In the winter wonderland that is college, there are tons of everyday fashion icons walking on campus. I can’t wait to tell you all about my findings. Stay tuned.
