Hey, my name is Teresa and I’m currently in my first year studying Arts at the University of Melbourne. This is my first time being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and I couldn’t be more excited! Melbourne University is arguably Australia’s most prestigious university and I can’t wait to show off what our Fashionistas/os have to offer! Situated next to the city, one of the bonuses of studying at Melbourne is definitely the impromptu shopping sprees between classes. After sleeping through a lecture, and realizing how much you’ve missed, nothing feels better overlooking that library cram session you planned on having, and instead, finding something else to cram into your already overstuffed wardrobe! Like every Fashionista, a problem I always seem to encounter is having nothing to wear.
At Melbourne University, students represent the full range of the style spectrum. I feel that during your college years, you’re allowed to go through as much style changes you want because it is your period of experimentation. That’s why I hate trying to describe my style! I’m constantly contradicting myself at every turn! I love my sharp collars and tailored clothing yet on the other hand, I love leather and edgy prints. If you saw me at school, you would most likely see me in a pair of loose-fitting pants and an oversized jumper. Comfort seems to be the key for me these days now that I’ve scheduled back-to-back classes all day!
This won’t be the first time that I’ll be shooting street style. I’ve been blogging with my friend, Bronte, for a few months and it’s been a roller coaster. On our blog, Lionlionbazaar, we love to showcase Australian designers and labels and hopefully that’s something I can bring to CollegeFashionista. Some of my favorite Aussie labels are Alice McCall, Dion Lee, Michael Lo Sordo, Josh Goot and Cameo the label. However, as I’m writing for the LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS column, I will definitely need to brush up on my knowledge of men’s fashion. This should not be a problem though because one thing that I have noticed is that Melbourne boys certainly dress to impress.
Thanks so much to CollegeFashionista for this opportunity and I look forward to showcasing Melbourne’s winter style while everyone else is hitting the beaches!
