Bonjour Fashionistas/os! I am so excited to be interning with CollegeFashionista for spring 2013! This is my third semester with CollegeFashionista and I couldn’t be happier to write for STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK again. Style advice is one of the reasons that I want to go into fashion; being able to provide weekly tips and suggestions for my readers on how to emulate the eclectic street style at the University of Wisconsin is a privilege. Coming from a smaller city in northern Wisconsin, I have developed my style modestly; but after moving down to Madison, my closet and eye for creativity expanded. Not only did my appreciation for what other people wear grow, but so did my willingness to dress outside my comfort zone. I have developed a growing friendship with red lipstick and will forever be a girl who loves gold more than silver. I hope throughout the semester that the street style I capture helps you develop and improve your own style. As I have figured out, the process to fashion perfection never ends. I love fashion because it evolves—both the industry and my own personal style. Trends come and go and the fashion industry is always changing; no day is ever the same, which is why I want a career in it. I am majoring in Strategic Communication from the School of Journalism here and hope to embark down a long path towards not one, but the many dream jobs I have that involve fashion and communications.Capturing the essence of street style from a Midwestern city is rewarding. It gives national and global readers a written experience of what it’s like to wear six-inch velvet wedges through a long snowy walk downtown, or what it’s like to rock heavy duty snow boots with a sequined mini dress. The street style of Madison is fearless. The Fashionistas/os at the University of Wisconsin style themselves well and I can’t wait to convey that to you throughout the semester!
