Hello fashion world! I’m Taylor Trgovac—an artist, writer and lover of tea. This is my third semester with CollegeFashionista, which means the start of my sophomore year at the University of Pittsburgh. I’m so excited for another challenging semester to explore the fashion world right here in my city!
I’m working towards a degree in Digital Media and Professional Communications with a double minor in Studio Arts and Film Studies. I also just landed a job as a Free People stylist here in Pittsburgh, which is something I’ve dreamed of for years. I aspire to eventually establish a career with the company because, for me, true freedom is when dreams and work can be one.
That being said, I gather inspiration from the world around me. I love experiencing new things and being surrounded by beautiful places, which is why this summer was truly the best one yet. While working a full time job and writing STYLE GURU STYLE articles, I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to travel abroad with my family. We visited seven countries in 14 days: England, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France. This experience alone was one of the most thrilling adventures to come my way, but that wasn’t all summer had in store for me. Later I traveled across the country to Southern California, where I hung out with friends and family, explored the West Coast and, of course, went shopping.
At its heart, my style is very much bohemian. I love natural fabrics and textures, neutral colors and breezy silhouettes. Long mermaid waves with sun bleached tips complement a laid back look and personality. Maxi skirts and cozy sweaters are among my most treasured pieces in my closet, and I rotate among a collection of vintage turquoise rings every day. Although I’m a lover of pastels, I also like to incorporate a bit of edge to my look in the form of dark lipstick, leather booties or tattoos–I have four. Recently, minimalism has found its way into my closet as I’ve fallen for the normcore trend. True to form, my white Birkenstocks haven’t left my feet since they came in the mail. However, old favorites such as vintage Levi Brand Jeans and trusty round sunnies won’t be leaving my wardrobe anytime soon.
As always, I look forward to a semester full of old friends and new discoveries.
