Hello everyone! I’m Taylor Shanle, a current Visual Communications student at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, and now a fellow Style Guru! Social media and styling are two huge passions of mine, and combining them is even better. I am a die-hard Disney fan, handbag hoarder, devoted Pinterest user and always in search of a new adventure!
Growing up in a small town in Northern California, I was always searching for an outlet for my creativity. It was difficult to dress the way I wanted without the fear of ridicule, but I powered through and expressed myself through fashion. I began to write, style and photograph my friends, create countless inspiration boards and even started a fashion club at my high school. Throughout the years, I’ve known that I was born to create and spend my life doing something that I am passionate about. As a junior in high school, I applied and was accepted to FIDM. My parents supported me with every step, and for that I am so grateful and I work my hardest to make them proud.
I am constantly gathering inspiration from the people, places and experiences around me. Even though that causes my style to often change, I usually like to keep things simple with a little bit of added flair. Since I tend to lean towards neutral colors, I try to add small pops of color or print to what I am wearing. My palm leaf print scarf and neutral Forever 21 sandals are great additions to an otherwise black and white ensemble. Because the pleated skirt is dressier, the other elements take the outfit to a more casual level. To me, it is important to always look your best because you never know what type of opportunity may arise.
