STYLE GURU BIO: Taylor Palmby

I’m ecstatic to begin my first semester as Style Guru! I’ve been scouring the CollegeFashionista sight for amazing street style for quite a while now, and I can’t wait to contribute. A lot of my personal style comes from inspiration I see on the streets of campus, and I can’t wait to spend my summer meeting amazing people with great style.

I spend a majority of the time I should be diligently taking notes in lecture online shopping. Because of that, I know the ins and outs of TOBI, NASTY GAL and Sabo Skirt better than I’ll ever know a textbook. I religiously read Cosmopolitan, and I often like to blog about the events of my crazy, chaotic college life. My fashion inspiration changes with the wind but lately I have been trying to embody my inner Blair Waldorf, from Gossip Girl. I am constantly blasting old school Fall Out Boy while having intense dance parties and singing at the top of my lungs.

My friends are constantly telling me that I’m the only person they know that can pull of certain pieces. I love to be bold in my fashion choices. I view fashion as a mode of expression, a way of telling people who I am. My style changes with the wind. Today, and many other days, I tried to release my inner punk. My favorite item in my enormous closet is my leather jacket. Everyone has their comfort piece, and my leather jacket always brings me a confidence boost when I need it. I recently found two chokers from Topshop that I wear everyday. The ying and yang choker reminds me to always find good in the bad. Lately, I’ve been super into fashionable skorts with fun patterns. I’m obsessed with my pair of wedge booties because they are so comfortable but give the little extra oomph necessary to put any outfit over the edge. After I cut my hair short, I discovered the wonders of hair chalk and it’s truly amazing. You can add a stripe of color to your hair with none of the scary commitment, because it washes right out. Last but not least, don’t forget your favorite pair of sunnies for those bright sunny days. I got my favorite pair of sunglasses from Urban Outfitters; I love the blue tinge that aids a little flair to these old- school aviators.

I can’t wait to enjoy my first summer in Madison searching the streets for Fashionistas/os. Let’s make this summer super rad!
