STYLE GURU BIO: Taylor Arnold

My name is Taylor Arnold, but you can call me Taylor Jané (Juh-Nae). I am a sophomore at the Art Institute of San Antonio majoring in Fashion Retail and Management, and I am super excited to begin my first semester as a Style Guru here at CollegeFashionista!

My relationship with fashion kind of just grew on me and sprouted into this passion I cannot go a day without. You probably won’t believe this, but I was a tomboy when I lived in Germany throughout elementary school and a couple of my middle school years. I just threw on what ever piece of clothing that fit, and I was out the door. It wasn’t until I moved back to the United States at the end of my seventh grade year that I became more apprehensive about what I wore. Since I was going to start a new year in an unfamiliar place, I wanted to take advantage of changing up what clothes I wore. I envisioned myself walking into school my eighth grade year looking fresh and fabulous; unfortunately my orange ripped jeans and my splatter paint black shirt did not do the trick. I learned the hard way that orange was not the color for me.

Thankfully, my sense of style evolved as I got older. High school was my big transformation when the hit television series Pretty Little Liars aired for the first time. The style of the four main female characters inspired me to dress up more at school. Soon my passion for fashion blossomed, and it became second nature for me.

As for my style, it tends to vary depending on how I feel that day or what I saw that inspired me. I like to experiment with different types of styles and clothing pieces. One thing I absolutely love is vintage styles, and I’m obsessed with finding unique pieces to add to more wardrobe! One of my favorite things to do is thrift shop because you may never know what you might find. For this outfit, it was very hot and humid, so I decided to throw on a black circle cut dress that you can never go wrong with. I paired it with my white platform sandals to brighten the look a bit. I also added my vintage royal blue clutch that I took from my grandmother’s box of old things for a pop of color. As for my jewelry, I tried to keep it simple as well. I threw on some gold bangles and a gold chain from Forever 21. I’m also wearing an elephant bracelet my grandmother got for me when she visited Ghana.

I cannot wait to grow, connect with you all and share my inspiration!
